Donald E. Lentz

LENTZ, Donald, age 87, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2018 in Fairborn, Ohio. He was born on September 2, 1931 in Mounds, IL. Donald graduated from the University of Illinois and earned his Masters Degree from Xavier University. He was a member of Zeta Psi fraternity while at the University of Illinois. Don married his high school sweetheart on June 4, 1955, in San Clemente, California, where Don served as a 1st Lieutenant in The Marine Corps. He was devoted to his Catholic faith and was a member of Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church for 16 years. Donald had a long career in the grocery business, holding corporate positions for Kroger, Victory Markets, Grand Union, A & P, and Bi-Lo. He loved to play golf, grew fantastic tomatoes, and was an avid Bengals and Ohio State fan. Donald is preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Ruth Lentz; parents, Ray and Cecelia Lentz; brothers, Ray and Lewis Lentz. Don is survived by six children; Loretta (William) Fishking, Lawrence (Susan) Lentz, Linda (Kelly) Akers, Lisa Lentz (Neal Covington), Laura (John) Bates, Leeann (Chip) Holloway; 12 grandchildren, Michael (Kami) Lentz, Christine Lentz, Amy (Jason) Rinehart, David Fishking, Madison (Brad) Stroud, Maxwell Hunt, Gracie Akers, John Morgan Bates, Sarah Jane Bates, Jackson Holloway, Jenna Holloway, James Holloway, and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 15th at 10 a.m. at Mary Help of Christians, 954 North Maple Avenue, Fairborn, OH. Burial at Dayton National Cemetery.
