age 81, of Washington Twp., passed away Saturday, May 27, 2006. He was born January 19, 1925 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Don was a graduate of GMI in Flint, MI. He retired from Delco Products as a Divisional Auditor after 42 years of service. Don was a member of the American Legion and the Moose Lodge. He was a very active member of the Dayton Elks Lodge #58 where he was a two-time past exalted ruler, secretary for 15 years, treasurer for 6 years and, in 2006, was named the Ohio Elk of the Year. Don was a veteran of WWII serving in the Navy Air Corps. Preceded in death by his grandson, Rusty Garling. Survived by his wife of 58 years, Carolyn Joyce Garling; sons, Donald L. (Kristine) Garling Jr., Richard (Shirley) Garling; daughter, Pamela (Jeff) Shaw; grandchildren, Shawn, Lee, Christopher, Chad, Charlie, Emily Chapman and Laura Shaw; 9 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering with Rev. Robert Miller officiating. Burial in David’s Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5-8:00 PM, Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Elks National Foundation, 2750 N. Lakeview Ave. Chicago, IL 60614-1889.
