Donald Lewis Derham

DERHAM, Donald Lewis, age 80, of Dayton, passed away on Monday, January 14, 2019. Donald was born in Los Angeles, California on March 6, 1938 to William A. and Eugenia M. (nee Feeser) Derham.

He was a graduate of Wilbur Wright High School. After High School Donald joined the United States Army and went on to be a police officer for the city of Dayton for 31 yrs. After his retirement as a police officer in 1997 Donald worked at the Kettering Recreational Center for 19 years. Donald loved his second career helping drive senior citizens to Dr. appointments and the grocery store. He would help in any way possible by carrying their groceries or assisting them to their door.

Donald loved planes and war time artifacts and enjoyed going to Wright-Patterson Airforce base. He loved to read and would sit for hours with a good book. He also had a passion for hot foods, the hotter the better. Don's biggest passion was his family. He worked hard to provide but always made time to spend with them.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Barbara A. (nee Johnson) Derham; daughter, Lori (Shannon) Cunningham; sons, Greg (Christy) Derham and Jeff (Kathy) Derham; sister, Lois (Tom) Brown; grandchildren Colton, Abby, Austin and Logan; from a previous marriage son, Don Derham, and daughter Julie (Derham); and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

A memorial visitation will be held from 10-12pm on Friday, January 18, at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering 45429, with a service to follow.

Inurnment at Woodland Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff at Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton for all the care they provided Don.
