Centerville

TURCOTTE, Donald “Don” R. age 75, of Centerville, OH, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2024.

Don was born in Manchester, NH on November 6, 1948. After graduating from St. Albert H.S., he attended Lowell Technical Institute, now known as UMASS-Lowell, and was a member of the Air National Guard. He met his wife Celeste on a cruise in New England in 1978 and fell in love. Their marriage was in 1979 and they were married for 45 years. He was an avid reader and enjoyed the topics of history, finance, and global economics.

Don pursued a career as a financial planner and tax consultant where he enjoyed helping clients through difficult financial situations and started several businesses including The Financial Connection, Miami Valley Advisors, and Miami Valley Tax Center. He enjoyed science and technology and would employ his curiosity to fully understand how things work by taking apart devices and putting them back together.

He took pride in self-reliance and fixing things himself. He developed a wide range of knowledge and skill with tools from an early age through helping his father, eventually aiding him in constructing an addition on the family home. Later with his own family he built a deck, made repairs to the family home, and renovated the office building his businesses occupied. He took great interest in his son’s activities, eventually becoming chief of the Indian Guides, Coaching his son’s soccer teams throughout his youth (Bellbrook Bombers, Soccer Centerville, Beavercreek Celtics, and Dayton Galaxies), and becoming a soccer referee and administrator. Don enjoyed watching professional and collegiate sports and followed his favorite teams; such as the Reds, Red Sox, Patriots, and Buckeyes. He enjoyed traveling to New England, Alaska, Europe, and the Caribbean.

Don is survived by his wife, Celeste; son, Patrick (Rachel); Grandson, Henry; sisters, Denise and Diane Turcotte of Manchester and Elaine Moore of Redmond, Washington. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial contribution to the Paralyzed Veterans of America.
