Donald graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1952 and was still meeting classmates for breakfast every month when he was not in Florida. He retired from Reynolds & Reynolds in 1994 after 42 years of service. He was a faithful Christian and member of the First Baptist Church of Kettering. Don always looked forward to meeting his Church friends for lunch after Church on Sunday and dinner on Wednesday before Bible Study. Don also enjoyed desserts and was known to dabble in baking from time-to-time winning 1st Place in a Pie Contest at their church with his Key Lime Pie recipe.
Don was a family man and was always involved with Bill and Kevin in sports while they were growing up. He coached baseball teams, basketball teams, and took them for bowling league at Pla-Mor Bowling every Saturday. Don enjoyed golfing and after retirement worked part time at the Beavercreek Golf Club which gave him more opportunities to golf. He especially enjoyed following his grandson Ben on the golf course at Sugar Valley for golf events in high school. All his grandkids and great grandkids were very special to him and he loved to tease the girls. He was even known to roll down the hill in the yard with them, play hide & seek, and have them ride on his back.
Don loved Florida and he and Kathy spent two years at the The Villages of Florida and 19 winters in Lakeland, Florida at the Florida Holiness Camp Ground. While in Florida they established many friendships with amazing people from all over the U.S. and Canada. Don loved to travel and one of his favorite vacations was to cruise on Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines where he was a Diamond Member.
