Doreen G. Klaus, age 76, of Washington Twp., passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2021. She was born on December 1, 1944, to the late James Otis Dunn and Edith Sonnier in Galveston, Texas. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Kenneth E. Klaus; daughter, Deborah Brady; grandchildren, Kristen (Cory Ross) Brady and Austin Brady; brother, Tommy (Diane) Dunn, stepsister, Sha Howard, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Doreen cared deeply for her family and friends and always opened her heart as an active listener and encourager. Doreen was a bookkeeper for Kenneth’s Auto Services for over 30 years. She was very artistic and loved making quilts, embroidery, and painting pictures. Doreen enjoyed gardening, collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia, and loved the movie Gone with the Wind. If that wasn’t enough, her culinary skills were exceptional. She cherished sharing a bowl of her comforting gumbo with friends and family whenever she got the chance. You never left her home hungry or empty-handed.
This perfect Nana came to life while hunting or fishing with her Kenneth. She brought fun, laughter, and warmth to every holiday, creating her own games and competitions to bring her family together. Doreen is remembered for her kind and cheerful spirit, which lives on in everyone she so dearly loved. Family will greet friends from 5:00pm-7:00pm Tuesday, November 9 at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00am Wednesday, November 10 at the funeral home. Burial in David’s Cemetery.
