Dorothy Davis Utz

UTZ, Dorothy Davis “Dottie”, age 91, formerly of Dayton, OH, and a long time resident of Florida, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2011. Dottie was born in Greenville, PA, to Dewight and Mildred Davis. Dottie always had a smile on her face and love and loyalty in her heart. Despite her petite size, she left an immense impact on her family, friends, and community. Her family is comforted to know that she is once again with her best friends, husband (Bob), and daughter (Genie). Dottie was interested in travel, cooking, golf and design. She opened the flower shop at Kettering Medical Center and later went on to create her own interior design company. Dottie was very active in the Lutheran Church and Mariner Sands Chapel. Dottie was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Robert E. Utz, and daughter, Dorothy “Genie” Carder. Dottie is survived by her sister, Mary; son-in-law, Terry Carder; niece, Dodie (Bob) Scott; grandchildren, Eric (Liza) Gilbert and Steve (Kim) Gilbert; and great-grandchildren, Griffin, Andy, Johnny, Henry, Madeline, Carder, and Phoebe Gilbert. A private service will be held in Stuart, FL at Mariner Sands Memorial Gardens. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Brookdale Place of Oakwood and Chatsworth Assisted Living Center for all the care and compassion they gave to Dottie.
