THEISS, Dorothy M., age 91, passed away at Bethany Lutheran Village on February 1, 2006. She was preceded in death by her first husband, J. Leo Swan and second husband, John G. Theiss and survived by her son, Thomas Swan. Dorothy was a retired Registered Nurse, who graduated from Springfield Community Hospital and worked in hospitals in the Cleveland, Dayton, and Cincinnati areas, as well as, a doctor’s office. She was a member of many organizations, Epiphany Lutheran Church, where she sang in the Chancel Choir, the Centerville Civic Club Chorus, the Centerville Garden Club for over 40 years and served on the Garden Club of Ohio Executive Board for 10 years as Chairman of Water Conservation, Air Quality and Recycling & Reclamation Board, where she wrote many articles for their Garden Greetings magazine. For this she received a certificate of honor in recognition of their community achievements by Attorney General Lee Fishers- 1994 Neighborhood Leadership Award Program. She was a charter member and a past Worthy Matron of Far Hills Chapter #577 O.E.S. and a 1969 D.G.M. of the Grand Chapter of the Ohio Eastern Star. She had a Life Membership in G.C.O. and the Dayton Museum of Natural History (presently known as the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery). She also supported the Jr. League of Women Voters and attended the Kettering Suburban Senior Citizens meetings frequently. A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, February 10, 2006 at the Bethany Lutheran Village chapel. Please see the Linden House or Tower receptionist for directions to the chapel.
