Dorothy (nee Dull) Wells, Centerville, OH, died unexpectedly Friday May 2, 2008. She was born May 27, 1926, to the late Fred C. and Wilda Watson Dull of Sidney, OH., and is survived by her husband of 60 years, Mark J. Wells, and daughters Jennifer Wells Fiden ( Paul ), of Kettering, OH., and Rebecca Wells, of Huber Heights, OH. Also surviving are grandchildren, Andrew MacGregor Fiden, Dayton, OH., and Sarah Shaw Fiden, Bloomington, IN Dorothy made beautiful music during her life, and she helped others experience the same joy through her accomplishments in the music publishing world, where she employed her unique talent as an editor, composer, and arranger of organ music. For more than three decades, Dorothy was an editor with the Lorenz Publishing Company, a producer of church and school music with an emphasis on serving the needs of the volunteer church musician. Dorothy began playing the piano at the age of 5, the pipe organ at 12, and the violin at 14. During her Sidney High School years, she played piano and violin in the orchestra and accompanied instrumental and vocal students for their solo performances; she also wrote the music for the school's Alma Mater. At 14 she began playing the organ for services at Sidney's First United Methodist Church. In 1997 she was inducted into the Sidney City Schools Hall of Fame. She graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University, where she majored in piano and minored in organ, sang in the a capella choir and played violin in the orchestra. In recognition of her musical excellence she was appointed to Pi Kappa Lambda (music honorary), was a member of Mu Phi Epsilon (music) and Kappa Kappa Gamma (social) fraternities. Dorothy was a member of Fairmont Presbyterian Church where she served as a trustee and a deacon; she was the organist at Fairmont Presbyterian Church, Faith Lutheran Church and St. Paul Lutheran Church, in the Dayton area. She especially loved playing for group singing and had the ability to play (without music) any tune in any key necessary; everyone sang better when Dorothy played. She was at all times, a kind, gentle, considerate and loving lady, and she will be missed by her many friends as well as her family.
