Douglas R. Boyd

BOYD, Douglas R., age 84, of Springboro, passed away February 9, 2025. He was born July 23, 1940 in Flint, Michigan; the son of the late Ralph and Gladys (Morgan) Boyd. Along with his parents, Douglas is preceded in death by his brothers, Don and Dwayne Boyd. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Joan (Melick) Boyd; son, Jeff (Brenda) Boyd; daughter, Jennifer (Chuck) Isham; grandchildren, Chad Schneider, Dan (Haley) Isham, Megan (Tyler) Zoltanski, Lindsey (Calvin) Watkins, Nick (Morgan) Boyd, Morgan (Connor) Crain, Josh (Kalie) Boyd, and Adam Boyd; great grandchildren, Hunter, Finley, Lucas, and baby girl Crain due in April; brother, Dr. Darrell Boyd; and numerous extended family members and friends.

 Douglas began a career with General Motors in Flint, Michigan and moved to the Dayton area in 1979 where he continued his career with Detroit Diesel Allison until his early retirement at the age of 50. After retirement, he was an avid woodworker building many custom pieces throughout the Dayton community. He was a lifelong member of the Antioch Shrine community serving on the Cincinnati Board of Governors for Shriners Children’s Hospital. He served as Potentate of Antioch Shrine in 1999. Douglas was also a member of the Alpha Lodge in Kettering, Ohio. In his free time, Douglas loved to golf, play cards, puzzles, garden, and feed the birds around his home. Douglas will be dearly missed by his friends and family.

 A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at 1:00PM at Routsong CENTERVILLE, 81 N. Main Street, Centerville, OH 45459 along with Masonic and Shrine services. Family and friends may visit from 12:00PM until the time of service. Douglas will be laid to rest at Miami Valley Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made out to Shriners Children’s Ohio, Dayton Children’s Hospital, or the Antioch Shrine Temple in memory of Douglas.
