Dr. Richard Joseph Sylvester

SYLVESTER, Dr. Richard Joseph, age 73 of Washington Township passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2006 at the Kettering Medical Center. Richard received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Yale University and his Ph.D in Civil Engineering and Applied Mathematics from the University of Colorado. Dr. Sylvester had achieved over forty years of engineering and management experience with the United States Air Force and Mitre Corporation in Boston, MA. He was a consultant for the Air Force Scientific Advisory Board. Richard was a committee member for the Right To Life at St. Leonard’s Community. He was also a member of the Church of the Incarnation, Knights of Columbus, Catholic Cursillo and was a 3rd order Carmelite for 50 years. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Dominick and Florence Sylvester. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Helen Louise Sylvester; 3 sons, Dr. Richard Alan Sylvester of Dallas, TX, John David Sylvester of Denver, CO and Thomas Gerard (Teresa) Sylvester of Ft. Worth, TX; daughters, Ann Louise (Russell) Chelf of Indianapolis, IN and Mary Elaine Sylvester of Springboro, OH; 5 grandchildren, Beau, Melissa, Jacob, Joseph and Taylor Sylvester; 1 great-grandchild, Michelle Sylvester and sister Beverly Elaine Sylvester of Solon, OH. Family will receive friends from 4-6:00PM on Tuesday, December 19, 2006 at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at the Church of the Incarnation, 7415 Far Hills Ave., Centerville at 10:00 AM. Burial in Chardon, OH.
