Earl Roberts Bishop

age 77 of Kettering passed away Monday, April 12, 2004 at Kettering Medical Center. Earl was a lifelong resident of Dayton and a 1945 graduate of Fairview High School. He graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University and attained two masters degrees from the American College of Bryn Mawr, PA. Earl served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, local president and vice president of the National Board of the American Society of Professionals (SFPS) and Financial Advisors, past president of (DAIFA), Ohio and Dayton Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. Earl retired after 40 years of service as an agent for New York Life Insurance Company. He also volunteered for Kettering Medical Center, the City of Kettering and the Victoria Theatre Association. Earl is preceded in death by his parents, Dudley and Orpha Bishop, brother, Dudley Bishop and sister-in-law Girvina. Earl is survived by his loving wife Janice Carr Bishop, 2 children, 3 step-children, and 17 grandchildren: daughter, Mary Rose (Gary) Stepp of Beavercreek; son, Rev. Robert Earl (Lori) Bishop of West Carrollton; grandchildren, Joshua, Justin, and Carly Stepp and Sarah, Carter, Bobby and Abby Bishop; step-children, Ned M. (Kathy) Denlinger, Philip Carr (Lisa) Denlinger, and Sally (Mark) Watkins; grandchildren, Kristen, Nathan, Katie, Kendra, Chip, Andrew and John Denlinger, Matthew, Stephen and Laura Watkins. Memorial services will be held Thursday, April 15, 2004 at7:00 PM at Christ United Methodist Church, Kettering, with Rev. Paul Stuckey officiating. Private burial. Family will receive friends from 6 to 7:00 PM at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Christ United Methodist Church Music Fund, 3440 Shroyer Rd., Kettering, OH 45429.
