Edith Elizabeth Parent

PARENT, Edith Elizabeth, age 98, long time Dayton resident, died in Columbus on Thursday, May 14, 2009. She attended St. Joseph Commercial High School and Miami Jacobs College. Her first job was with DP&L, followed by a position with the Glenn L. Martin Company (Martin Marietta). Edith was a member of Walnut Grove Country Club for many years and loved bridge and golf. She was a member of Holy Angels parish most of her life and a resident at St. Leonard's for eight years before moving to The Villas of St. Therese in Columbus. Edith was preceded in death by her husband Winton (Winnie) of 52 years; brother, Earl Shuey; and sister, Juanita Fricke. She is survived by her sons James (Leslie) Parent of St. Pete Beach, Florida and Richard (Arlene) Parent of Columbus, Ohio; brother Eugene (Joan) Shuey of Lexington, Kentucky; grandchildren, Jennifer Parent of Atlanta, Georgia; John Parent and Kim Parent of Columbus, Ohio. Friends may call from 5 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Road, Kettering. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at Holy Angels Catholic Church, Dayton. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to City of St. Jude, 2048 West Fairview Avenue, Montgomery, Alabama 36108.
