Edmond Burl White

WHITE, Edmond "Burl", age 82, of Kettering, OH, passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2012. He was born on August 1, 1929 in Dayton, Ohio. As a young man, Burl worked many years as a bicycle newspaper carrier for the Dayton Daily News. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1947. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. During his life, he also worked for Apex Division of Cooper Industry, Systems Research Labs, and for thirty-three years, he was a designer for the Frigidaire Division of General Motors. In addition to his work career, Burl was a volunteer at Kettering Hospital for thirty-two years. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge Millennium #779. As a member of the Mighty Fortress Lutheran Church, Burl was the Council President and served the church in a number of other roles and responsibilities. Burl had many loves in his life, and his love of music was at the top. He sang in the Scottish Rite choirs for over thirty years, sang in his church choir, sang with the Minstrels Kort Club, and was a member of a Barber Shop Quartet. Among his other loves was his family. Burl is survived by his wife of 61 years, Alice White; his son, Stephen Lee White and his wife, Jenny, of Kings Mountain, NC; his daughters Debbie Roepken, of Kettering, OH; and Pat Deibert, and her husband, Barry Deibert, of Cheyenne, WY. He is also the grandfather to Edmond White, and his wife, Melanie; Emily White; Corey Roepken; Amy Meredith and her husband Greg; and Darcy Deibert. He also has three great grandchildren, Henry, William, and Evelyn. Family will greet friends from 5:00-8:00pm on Friday, July 13, 2012 at ROUTSONG FUNERAL HOME, 2100 East Stroop Road, Kettering. A funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Mighty Fortress Lutheran Church, 2841 East Dorothy Lane, Kettering, OH 45420. Burial will follow in Beavertown Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Mighty Fortress Lutheran Church.
