DECKER, Edward, age 96, of Centerville passed away Thursday, November 16, 2006 at Bethany Village. Edward was a Centerville High School State Baseball Champion in 1928, and was inducted into the Centerville High School Baseball Hall of Fame. He was a member of Centerville United Methodist Church. Edward was a board member of First National Bank of Miamisburg and Star Bank. He was a 50 year charter member of the Centerville Lions Club and served on the Montgomery County Fair Board for 45 years, a AAA Tour Leader, director of the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association, director of the Miami Valley Trotting Association and past president of the Miami Valley and Dayton Rose Societies. He was preceded in death by parents, Earl and Bertha Decker, wife, Margaret, daughter, Kay, brother, Sylvan and sister, Ina. Edward is survived by daughter, Joann (Jerry) Burand; son-in-law, Merrill Durig; grandchildren, Deborah Burand, David (Cheryl) Burand, Kathy (Mike) Sullivan, and Kelly (Stacey) Johnston; great-grandchildren, Kristin Burand, Kelsey Sullivan and Grant Edward Johnston; sister, Jane Wallace. A special thanks to all his wonderful caregivers. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 20, 2006 at 3:00 PM at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, with Rev. Harvey Smith officiating. Burial in Centerville Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 2-3:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Centerville Baseball Scholarship Fund, 500 E. Franklin St., Centerville, OH 45459.
