Edward E. Sikes

SIKES, Edward, E., age 84, a native Daytonian passed away Saturday, March 4, 2006 at Kettering Medical Center. Ed was a 1938 graduate of Parker Co-Op (presently known as Patterson Co-Op). He worked as a Tool Engineer for Sheffield Tool and Die and for the IBM Corp. Ed then went to work for Delco Moraine until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of Alpha Lodge, AASR-Valley of Dayton, Antioch Shrine, 33-year member and past Director of the Antioch Oriental Band, Royal Order of Jesters, El Ameen Nabeel, Antioch Seniors and the Milton Athletic Club. His parents, Stephen and Julia Sikes and his sister, Jane Dietz, preceded him in death. Ed is survived by wife of 61 years, Betty Sikes; daughters, Sherry (Jay) Powell of Leander, TX, Dianne (Jack) Gray of Milford, OH and Cindy (Jim) Sherman of Spring Valley, OH; grandchildren, Michelle Miller, Cassandra Gray, Shannon (Scott) Stevens, Marcy (Richard) Gentsch, Heather and Lindsay Sherman; great- grandchildren; Charles and Chelsea Gentsch; sisters, Dorothy Sudabrin and Pauline Weber; and brother, Stephen Sikes. A celebration of Ed’s life and accomplishments will be held Thursday, March 9, 2006 at 11:00AM at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, with Chaplain Ben Hardin officiating. The burial will follow at David’s Cemetery. Ed’s family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00PM on Wednesday evening at the funeral home with a Blue Lodge service at 6:45PM.
