Edward J. Swinderman

age 94 of Kettering and The Suites of Walnut Creek passed away on Monday, March 20, 2006 at the Kettering Medical Center. Edward was born September 1, 1911 in Pittsburgh, PA. Edward was a longtime member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and The Church of the Ascension. He retired after many years of service from the Egry Register Company, McCall’s and the Dayton Daily News. He was a member of the Dayton Typographical Union # 57. Edward served in the United States Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater with the 20th Infantry, 6th Division. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Combat Infantry Badge. Edward was preceded in death by his loving wife Mercedes Carey Swinderman in December 2004; brother, Raymond Swinderman; sister, Isabelle Heider. He is survived by sons, Edward (Anna) Swinderman of Woodlands, TX and William (Linda) Swinderman; daughter, Catherine “Kate” ( Dr. Robert) Hardman, Kettering, OH; 7 grandchildren, Laura Gorman, Tracy, Eric, Brian and Chris Swinderman, Jackie Gaskins and Kenneth J. Hashimoto; 5 great-grandchildren, Heath, Hailey, Patrick, Anthony & Dalton; sister-in-law, Janet Carey of Kettering, OH, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2006 at 10:30 AM, at the Church of the Ascension with Father Chris Worland officiating. Burial at Calvary Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5-8:00 PM on Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at the Routsong Funeral Home, 6 Oakwood Ave. at Irving Ave. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Vincent De Paul, 1133 S.
