Edward Stevenson

August 28, 1949 — September 12, 2024

Edward Francis Stevenson age 75, of Kettering Ohio, passed away Thursday, September 12, 2024. He was a 1967 graduate of Lawrence High School in Massachusetts and later received a BS from Franklin Pierce College in New Hampshire in 1985.

During the Vietnam War Ed was a Sgt. in the Air Force and served as a Para Rescue airman. He received a Purple Heart for his actions. After receiving his degree in Zoology, he worked at Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary in Indian Shores, FL, for ten years. He later moved to New Hampshire and worked for DeMoulas’ Market Basket for 30 years in IT.

Ed was a longtime volunteer for Friends of Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouse and received the Len Hadley Volunteerism Award from the American Lighthouse Foundation. He continued volunteering remotely for the lighthouse foundation after moving to Ohio in 2015, but also began volunteering with Five Rivers Metro Parks. For the past seven years Ed put in well over 1,000 hours with Five Rivers Metro Parks, receiving on April 21, 2024, the Serve Ohio Award from Governor DeWine. Ed was also an avid gardener and could fix anything.

He is survived by his wife, Roberta “Bobbie” Stevenson; Step daughters, Kerry (Dirk) Rimstidt, Jonnie Maloney; Grand Children Zachary, Grant, Hannah, and numerous nieces and nephews.
