Edwin H. Hunter

HUNTER, Edwin H., age 94, of Oakwood, formerly of Troy, passed away Monday, March 20, 2006. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Troy, College Hill Presbyterian Church and Forest Avenue Presbyterian Church in Dayton. Edwin was also a member of the Camera Club and Troy Gun Club. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army. Edwin was a highly versatile graphic designer, artist, illustrator and cartoonist. He served as executive art director for several of Dayton’s largest advertising agencies over a span of more than 40 years prior to his retirement in 1990. Many of his editorial cartoons were carried by the New Yorker and other national magazines. His love of cameras led to a lifetime association with the Leica Camera Club of Dayton and many other area photographers. Blessed with a calm and easy-going manner and gentle wit, Ed earned the lasting respect and admiration of all who knew and worked with him. Preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Mary Hunter and his first wife, Lois Hunter in 1969. Survived by his wife of 31 years, Alice Hunter; daughter, Martha Ellen Hunter Antonick, of Dayton; son and daughter-in-law, Paul (Suszanne) Hunter, of Centerville; step-daughter and son-in-law, Susan (Dennis) Hughes, of Sidney; step-son and daughter-in-law, David (Vikki) Tennant, of Troy; 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandsons. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, March 24, 2006 at Routsong Funeral Home, 6 Oakwood Ave., Oakwood with Rev. Timm High officiating. Burial in Riverside Cemetery in Troy.
