Effie Mae Nolan

NOLAN, Effie Mae, (Mae to most), age 82 of Dayton, Ohio and formerly of LaFollette, Tenn. passed away on Friday, December 20, 2013. Mae graduated from LaFollette High School in 1950. After graduation Mae ventured up to Ohio to spend some time with her beloved father. There she met and married in 1951 her only husband, Bill of 62 years. Mae and Bill started out with nothing and built a nice life together. They raised 6 children: Bill Nolan Jr., Linda Ruescher, Vicki McDaniel, Kathy Iron Necklace, Judy Montgomery, and Scott Nolan. They have 16 grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Mae loved to rock the babies and her favorite tune to sing to them was an old country folk song called "In the Pines". Mae was an avid story teller and had a remarkable memory of the 'good-old-days'. She spent part of her youth in a coal mining camp. She never forgot her wonderful childhood friends. Her high school reunions were definite must attend trips. Mae liked to decorate and had very good taste. When Mae dressed up for the many, many weddings that she hosted she always looked so elegant. Mae loved flowers. So dad made sure that there was no shortage of flower beds at their home. Mae will be missed and will surely be telling her stories in the resurrection to any and all who love her. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00pm on Sunday, December 22, 2013 at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Monday, December 23, 2013 also at the funeral home.
