WARWAR, Elias R., age 90, who presided in his home in Oakwood until his death, passed away Friday, July 8, 2005 at Kettering Medical Center in the presence of his loving family. Mr. Warwar was a member of the Mystic Lodge #405, F& AM, Ancient Accepted Scottish Right, Antioch Shrine, the Downtown High 12 Club, and The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. He was also a member the Presidents Club and member and past president of the Downtown Optimist Club. Mr. Warwar was a tailor since the age of 19. He owned Warwar Custom Tailors in downtown Dayton from 1959 to 1998, during which he dressed up generations of Daytonians. The store first opened in 1959 in the Knott Building (Centre City Building). Subsequently, he moved to Main Street across from the Old Courthouse, then to East First Street until he retired and the store closed in 1998. Mr. Warwar made each customer feel special and visiting his store was a unique experience. He is survived by his loving wife Laurence; two sons, Sam (Sherry) Warwar and Ronald Warwar, M.D., both of Oakwood; two daughters, Samia (William, D.D.S.) Borchers, M.D. of Oakwood and Mona (John) Mekus of Atlanta, GA; nine grandchildren, Ashley, Rachel, Samantha, and Hannah Warwar, Christina Borchers, and Zachary, Lara, and John Mekus; two sisters and four brothers. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday July 12, 2005 at The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 500 Belmonte Park North, Dayton. Family visitation will be held Monday July 11, 2005 at the Routsong Funeral Home, 6 Oakwood Ave. at Irving Ave., from 4-8:00 p.m., with Masonic Services at 6:30 p.m., and Trisagion prayers at 7:00 p.m. with Father Larry Legakis officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends may make contributions to The Dayton Foundation, The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, or The Dayton Masonic Temple Foundation.
