Elizabeth Helen Hahnsch

July 15, 1923 — November 6, 2016

Elizabeth Hahnsch died on Sunday, Nov. 6 in Kettering, Ohio. Mrs. Hahnsch was 93. She was assisted in the last months of her life by Hospice of Dayton, but died in her own bed at home as was her wish. Mrs. Hahnsch was born in Vermilion, Ohio and raised a family there with husband, Robert Hahnsch, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Hahnsch was a member of St. Mary's Church in Vermilion and volunteered at the church's elementary school cafeteria. To say she was an avid gardener would be an understatement and she excelled at growing both flowers and vegetables. She read books, but also three newspapers a day, which contributed to her granddaughter's career as a journalist. She is survived by daughter, Barbara Margolis, of Kettering, Ohio; granddaughter, Kim Margolis, of Dayton, Ohio; two sisters; and many faithful family members in California. She was preceded in death by two brothers. A memorial mass will be held for her at St. Mary's Church in Vermilion on December 3rd at 1:00 PM. Mrs. Hahnsch was lucky enough to have her daughter, Barbara live with her for the last decade of her life. Because so many people do not have that luxury, please donate to a local Area Agency on Aging or similar group that aids senior citizens in honor of Mrs. Hahnsch.
