HOBBS, Elizabeth M., age 95, of Washington Township, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2013. She was born on November 19, 1918 in Padua, Mercer County, OH to the late Theodore and Frances Muhlenkamp.
Elizabeth attended Jacobs Junior college in Dayton. While Mr. Hobbs was an Army Officer in WWII they lived in Alaska at the time of the Pearl Harbor attack and they also lived in Colorado Springs, CO, and Ft Riley, KS. They moved from Dayton to Hamilton in 1957 when Mr. Hobbs took an executive position with Mosler Safe Co., where they stayed before returning to the Dayton area 30 years ago.
Elizabeth was a member of St. Albert's Catholic Church, League of Women Voters and served as president of Shroder Manor in Hamilton. She enjoyed playing bridge, cooking, golfing, and spending time with her family. Elizabeth will be missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel J. Hobbs, daughter, Sharon, and nine brothers and two sisters. Elizabeth is survived by her children, Dan (Irma) Hobbs of Tracy, CA, Jack (Marge) Hobbs of Hingham, MA, and Joan (Pat) Smith of Rockville, MD; and ten grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at the Sterling House and Hospice of Dayton for their care and to her special caregiver, Jeanette Hall.
Family will greet friends from 11:00am-12:00noon on Friday, December 20, 2013 at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 3033 Far Hills Ave, Kettering. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held following the visitation at 12:00noon at the church. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery.
