DELPHENICH, Elsie Carlton Carli was born on June 11, 1927 in Cincinnati OH to Henry and Elsie Chapman.
Carli graduated from the University of Wisconsin, taught music in Kettering schools and was active in many musical activities. She was a member of Sigma Alpha Iota music fraternity (initiated 1946); active at Christ United Methodist Church as choir member/volunteer; was a volunteer at Dayton Art Institute; and volunteer at Dayton Opera Guild with marionettes.
A life-long seeker of knowledge Carli was devoutly spiritual and endlessly curious about the universe. She delighted in music and theatre, travel, nature, all animals - with a special fondness for cats, and her family. She felt her kids were among her best teachers. She enjoyed cooking and wonderful food - and anything chocolate. Beloved mother and wife; loyal friend; kind mentor and teacher, Carli touched so many lives and will be dearly missed.
Preceded in death by her husband Jack Delphenich of 65 years, parents; brother, Dr. Eugene Chapman; and her sister, Martha Lou Chapman. She is survived by her children, William (Pam) of Maine; David of Spring Valley; Chris of Dayton; Anne (David) of Anacortes, Washington; Dennis of Waynesville; Eric (Natalie) of Salt Lake City, Utah; and grandchildren; Alec, Matthew and Roman.
A special thank you to the staff at Brighton Gardens and Hospice of Dayton for the special care they gave to Carli and her family.
