Esther Ellen Evans

EVANS, Esther E., recently of Birmingham, Alabama, formerly of Kettering, Ohio passed away on December 11, 2013. Esther was born in 1920 in Findlay, Ohio, the daughter of John and Bertha Ludi. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Evans, Jr.; her daughter, Susan Evans Zaborowski; son, Stephen Jon Evans; brothers, Karl and Robert Ludi; and sisters, Ruth Ludi Snyder and Mary Ludi Bedford. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Evans Routson and husband Steve of Birmingham, AL; son-in-law, Phil Zaborowski of Centerville, OH; daughter-in-law, Susan Evans of Lincoln, NE; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Hoefler (Jack) of Kettering, OH; and brother-in-law, John Evans (Marie) of CA. Esther is the grandmother of Jacqueline Francisco (Jeff) and Mandy Pascua (Ray) of CA, Jason Routson (Jennifer) of Atlanta, GA, Justin Routson of Birmingham, AL, Alyson and Megan Zaborowski of Centerville, OH, four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was a life-long member of Oak Creek United Church of Christ and a long-time volunteer at Kettering Hospital and an avid bridge player. Being a grandmother and great-grandmother was her pride and joy and brought pure happiness to her. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Magnolia Ridge Nursing Home in Gardendale, AL and to all the staff from Life Choice Hospice who treated Esther with passion, dignity, and the tenderest loving care. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 18 from 10:30 -11:30am with a funeral service immediately following at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main Street, Centerville. Burial following in David's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Life Choice Hospice, 13521 Highway 280, Suite 249, Chelsa, AL 35242.
