Esther Louise Watrous

WATROUS, Esther Louise of Centerville passed away, Sunday, May 18, 2008 at Kettering Medical Center. She was born November 29, 1924 to Rev. E. Burton and Mary Iva Learish. Esther was born in Scottdale, PA, attended high school in Johnstown, PA and graduated from Otterbein College in Westerville, OH in 1946. She earned a Master's in elementary education from Miami University. Esther met her husband, Ralph while both were working at Inland Manufacturing. They married in 1946 and had three children. Esther was an elementary teacher in the Northmont School System for 26 years. She was a member of the Sigma Alpha Tau sorority (Owls), Montgomery County Retired Teachers Association, the Otterbein Women's Club and Centerville United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Iva and E.B. Learish; husband, Ralph M. Watrous; sister, Mary Elizabeth Learish; brother, Harley B. Learish and grandson, Steven Donisi. Esther is survived by her children, Ellen Donisi and Eric Watrous of Dayton and Julie West of Cascade, CO; grandchildren, Stephanie Leonhardt, Stirling West, Amy Jacobs, Erin, Jordan and William Watrous; 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2:00PM at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville with Dr. Steven Fewell and Rev. Ray Merz officiating.
