Ethel Braunlin

BRAUNLIN, Ethel Marian, age 90, of Washington Township, passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2014. She was born in St. Patrick, OH on December 20, 1924 to the late Frank and Elizabeth Hoying. Ethel graduated as Valedictorian of Minster High School in 1942 then earned her RN degree in 1945 from the Good Samaritan School of Nursing. She worked many years as a nurse and especially loved to work in the recovery room. Ethel was a member of St. Albert the Great Catholic Church for 22 years where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was on the Welcoming Committee. She volunteered at Sycamore Hospital and for the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Ethel was a hard working woman who was dedicated to her faith, husband, and family and always put others before herself. She enjoyed gardening and was a stellar nurse. Ethel is preceded in death by her loving husband, Edgar Louis Braunlin, Jr. and 8 siblings. She is survived by her children, Daniel (Jeri Lynn) Braunlin MD of Kettering, Karen (David) Hand of Las Cruces, NM, Mark (Christine) Braunlin of Fayetteville, OH, Paul Braunlin of Fort Collins, CO, and James Braunlin MD of Connersville, IN; grandchildren, Anne Hempstead, Lindsay (Charlie) Chenowith, Julie Hempstead, Nancy (Dave) Martin, Susan (Erik) Geiger, Kathryn Braunlin, Jennifer Braunlin and John Braunlin; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Francis Hoying; and numerous other relatives and friends. The family will greet friends from 5:00-8:00pm on Friday, December 26, 2014 at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 3033 Far Hills Ave., Kettering, OH 45429 with Fr. James Manning officiating. Burial will follow at David's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Edgar L. Braunlin Scholarship Fund, c/o St. Albert the Great Catholic Church.
