Ethel Burgett, age 102, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2025. Born on November 11, 1922, in Winchester, Kentucky. Ethel lived a long, fulfilling life filled with love, devotion, and dedication to her family and her passions.
Ethel was a woman of many talents. She was known for her incredible skill in crocheting and quilting, creating beautiful works of art that will be cherished by her loved ones for generations. She found great joy in spending time with her family, whether it was through storytelling, sharing meals, going to the beach or simply enjoying the quiet moments together.
Throughout her life, Ethel embodied the virtues of kindness, patience, and resilience. She touched the lives of everyone who knew her and was always a source of warmth and encouragement.
She is preceded in death by her parents Jesse and Delilah McClure; husband of 53 years, Gentry Burgett; sisters, Luna Stephens and Ruby Pennick; and brother, Arlie McClure. Ethel is survived by her daughters, Deborah (Richard) Setty and Patricia (JL) Blankenship; grandchildren, Jennifer (Pete) Willey and Rodney (Alyssia) Blankenship; great-grandchildren, Riley and Roxy Blankenship, Zach Fithen, Connor Willey and Grayson, Haley, Trip and Garrett; and numerous extended family.
Ethel’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. A private memorial service will be held to honor her life. Her final resting place will be Woodland Cemetery, Dayton.
Rest in peace, Ethel. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
