Ethel Gertrude Whiteside

WHITESIDE, Ethel E., age 94 of Oakwood passed away on Monday, March 9, 2009 at Sunrise at Oakwood. A devoted wife and mother, humble and quiet with great inner strength; she will be missed by those who knew and loved her. Born in New York City, raised her family in Emerson, NJ lived in Oceanside, CA, Buckley, WA and Ft. Pierce, FL before moving to Dayton, Ohio in 1998. Ethel was a member of David's United Church of Christ. She was much loved and well cared for by the staff at Sunrise at Oakwood and during her final days by Acclaim Hospice. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert G. Whiteside and sister and brother-in-law, Mabel and Nils Stimm. Ethel is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Alan Schaeffer and their children, Jessica, Reid and Amy; son, David Whiteside and his children, Leah and Christian; son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Lynn Whiteside and their children and spouses, Brian (Stacy) Whiteside and their children Colby, Caden and Mackenzie, Eric (Kara) Whiteside and their children, Michael and Brady, Stacey (Craig) Renz and their children, Anabel and Celia; nephew, Donald Stimm. A memorial service will be held at a later date. If desired, contributions may be made in Ethel's memory to a charity of your choice.
