MITCHELL, EUGENE M, “GENE” age 83, of Kettering, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at Kettering Memorial Hospital. He was born July 3, 1923 in Cincinnati, OH. He is preceded in death by his son, Daniel E., his parents, Eugene Daniel and Marie (Healon) Mitchell and sister, Marie Jennings of Cincinnati. Mr. Mitchell is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Eleanor “Jean” Mitchell, sons, James and Thomas of Kettering, and loving nieces and nephews and friends. Mr. Mitchell was a Navy PT Boat Veteran of WWII. Mr. Mitchell graduated (with honors) from the University of Dayton in 1950 and successfully completed courses from the Wharton School of Finance in PA. Mr. Mitchell was president of Dayton-Walther International and Vice-Chairman of the Dayton Walther Corporation. He was currently president of Business Communications Services Inc. and was on the board of directors of many corporations including the Dayton Walther Corporation, Euchlid Corporation, Grote Corporation, Verity Corporation, BCS Inc., Outdoor Sportsman Inc., etc. and a consultant to these and many others. Mr. Mitchell was chairman of the Heavy Duty Business Forum, a “life” member of the Truck Trailer Manufacturers Association (TTMA) and was over a 50-year active member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). Mr. Mitchell was a longtime member of St. Albert the Great Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, December 19, 2006 at 12:00 noon at St. Albert the Great Church in Kettering, OH 45429. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Dayton. Mr. Mitchell’s family will receive guests at a visitation on Monday, December 18th from 5-8:00 PM at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering.
