Eugene W. Schill

SCHILL, Eugene W. "Gene", age 77, of Dayton passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at Hospice of Dayton. He was a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps from 1954-1957. He graduated from the University of Dayton in 1961 and received his MBA from UD in 1965. Gene spent over 26 years in the Athletic Department at the University of Dayton and co-hosted "Fans in the Stands" with Vic Cassano Sr. He taught at the International College of Broadcasting for 19 years. For many years, Gene judged the 4H dog programs throughout the area and was privileged to judge at the State Fair several times. His love for dogs was known to all and he showed his beloved Bouviers since the 1980's. Gene and Bev have belonged to St. Albert the Great Parish for over 50 years where he served as Parish Council President. He was an usher at the 4:30 Mass on the chapel side for many years and was known for his colorful shirts and sweaters. Gene is preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, brothers and sister. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Bev; his son, Chris (Melissa); daughters, Cathy "Muffie" and Caryn "Pies"; grandchildren, Tiffany, Brittany, Adam (Kelly), and Allie Marie; two beloved grand-dogs, Woozles and Sadie; sister, Mary Ann; numerous nieces and nephews; and very special family friends, Marcie and Melroy Pottinger of Louisville, KY. Family will greet friends from 2:00pm-6:00pm on Sunday, October 13, 2013 and also from 10:00am-11:00am on Monday, October 14, 2013 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 East Stroop Road, Kettering. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00PM on Monday, October 14, 2013 at St. Albert the Great Parish, 3033 Far Hills Avenue, Kettering with Fr. Tom Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at David's Cemetery in Kettering.
