MARTIN, Faye, a 40-year resident of Dayton, died on December 28th, 2018 in Cincinnati. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Russell Kent Martin. Mrs. Martin is survived by her daughters, Karin Martin and Mindy Martin Weigel, and her husband Breck Weigel, both of Cincinnati, as well as two grandchildren, Matthew and Gretchen.
Mrs. Martin was born and raised in Franklin, Ohio. After graduation from The Ohio State University in 1958, where she met her future husband, Kent, and was a member of the Phi Mu sorority, she returned to Middletown, where Kent worked for the Sorg Paper Company. The paper business took them to Hinsdale, Illinois, Ridgefield, Connecticut, and then to Oakwood, Ohio. Mrs. Martin was an avid needle pointer and owned The Yarn Garden for several years. Always entrepreneurial and a female leader before her time, she turned her talents to real estate and became an award-winning realtor in the Dayton area.
Faye was an avid Buckeyes fan and loved attending home games with her grandson, Matthew, and her best friends, Doris Olt and Lois Ross. On gameday, they could be found lunching at the bar at the Blackwell Hotel. Faye loved to socialize and entertain, but above all wanted to spend time with her daughters and grandchildren. Mrs. Martin was a contributor to her community and touched the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She was a gracious lady, quick with a compliment, ready with a smile, and a friend to all.
A memorial service in her honor will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 7, 2019 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Oakwood. Family will receive friends at the Dayton Country Club following the service. Burial was at David’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to The Alzheimer’s Association of the Miami Valley and Dayton Area at 31 W. Whipp Road, Dayton, Ohio 45459, or the charity of your choice.
