GEARING, Evangeline, A., age 93, of Clear Spring, MD, formerly of Dayton, OH died Saturday, October 22, 2005 in Hagerstown, MD. Evangeline was born November 13, 1911, the oldest daughter of the late Clarence and Amelia Barnhart. She was a graduate of Miami Jacobs Business College and was a secretary at General Motors. She was a member of Fairmont Presbyterian Church, a deacon of Forest Ave. United Presbyterian and a past-president of the Friendly Circle Group. Evangeline was a prompter of The Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Harmonettes, White Shrine, Karing Keenagers of Marshall Rd. and the Senior Citizens of Kettering. She was an avid bridge player, belonged to several clubs, including one which she helped start in 1935 that met every month for 70 years. Evangeline was preceded in death by her husband, Myrle A. Gearing. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Jeff) Stearns of Clear Spring, MD.; granddaughters, Penny McKee, Sherry Savage and Amy Boppe; great-grandchildren, Katie Golden, Michael Golden, Ellison McKee and Jocelyn Boppe; sister, Grace Engle and brother Walter (Jane) Barnhart of Englewood and sisters-in-law, Juanita Ernest, Dorothy (Dick) Robinette, Pat (Earl) Pruitt and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 28, 2005 at 11:00 AM at the Routsong Funeral Home, 6 Oakwood Ave. at Irving with Rev. Robert Wade officiating. Burial in Glen Haven Cemetery, New Carisle, OH. Family will receive friends Thursday from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
