Evelyn Delores Wood

WOOD, Evelyn Delores, age 89, of Kettering, passed away Friday, May 06, 2011. Evelyn worked for many years as a secretary for the Dayton Chief of Police. She was a compassionate, generous woman who loved animals, holidays, shopping, time on the boat and her family. Evelyn was like a mother to all of her nieces and nephews, whom she loved very much. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 yrs., Robert F. Wood; parents, David and Myrtle Brown and brother Mel Brown. Evelyn is survived by her sister-in-law Betty Brown; nephews David (Barbi) Brown and Bruce Brown; niece Melanie (Michael) Weiner; great niece Lauren Brown; great nephews Griffin, Nicholas and Alec Weiner; and by Lyn Wood and family. Family will greet friends Friday, May 13, 2011 from 10:00-11:00am at ROUTSONG FUNERAL HOME, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Dayton National Cemetery, 4100 W. Third St. Dayton, OH. Contributions may be made in Evelyn's honor to The Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45409.
