Evelyn F. Jarrett

October 20, 1923 — April 25, 2012

JARRETT, Evelyn F., age 88, of Oakwood passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2012. Whether walking her dog, swinging on the porch swing, reading her Bible, enjoying a poem, or talking to friends, Evelyn enjoyed life. A talented seamstress, her family was able to enjoy tailor made clothes, costumes and curtains. The Jarrett basement was always full of crafts and flower arrangements, while the kitchen was her laboratory where she continuously experimented with new recipes. Evelyn was only happy when she was busy! Over the years many people benefited from her efforts. Some of her favorite projects included: organizing church receptions at St. Paul's Episcopal Church; volunteering and leading tours for The Franklin Park Conservatory; providing horticultural therapy at various institutions; organizing and directing a senior camp for the County Home; selling compost for the garden club; and volunteering in second language classes. Evelyn's greatest passion was her love of flowers, as seen by her gardens. She enjoyed arranging and growing all types of plants and was thrilled when she was asked to be on the Wegerzyn's Garden Tour. Preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Harold M. Jarrett; parents, George and Ida Mae (nee Scott) Fetters; step-mother Helen Miller Fetters; and brother, George Lewis Fetters Jr.. Evelyn is survived by daughters, Catherine (Paul) Knoop, Marjorie Williams, and Carolyn Badura; sons, Boyd (Karen) Jarrett and Harry (Tina) Jarrett; grandchildren, Monica (Brian) Ellis, Michelle McConnell, Andrew (Elly) Williams, Christopher (Stacy) Williams, Todd (Megan) Williams, Scott Jarrett, Jason Jarrett, and Jessica Jarrett; great-grandchildren, Natasha, Alexander, Chelsea, Lukas, Ethan, Maggie, Brady, Sophie, and Paul; and cousins, James (Shirley) Fetters, Dick (Genie) Baldwin, and Jean Williams. Family will greet friends on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 from 10:00-11:00am at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Oakwood with Memorial service to follow at 11:00am with Rev. Alan Mead officiating. Gifts in her honor may be made to Franklin Park Conservatory, 1755 E Broad St, Columbus, OH 43203 or SICSA, 2600 Wilmington Pike, Dayton, OH 45419.
