PENNINGTON, Fairy "Boots", age 93, of Centerville, OH, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2015. Fairy was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew E. Pennington, parents, James and Rilda of Crossville, TN, 11 brothers and sisters, all of whom lived out of state. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Sarah Benson and Minerva Jones of Kettering, OH and niece, Geneva Manis of Centerville, OH.
She has one surviving brother, Dexter of Crossville, TN. Her daughter's family in San Diego include daughter, Pam (Michael) Webb; granddaughter, Sheila LeMire, great-granddaughter, Franchesca Edhlund, grandson, Michael (Marion) Webb and great-granddaughter, Mei Long. Second surviving daughter, Sharon (Tom) Cassano Noland of Centerville, OH; granddaughter, Lora (Steve) Hammons; great-granddaughters, Allison and Kristen Hammons of Springboro, OH; grandson, Victor (Carey) Cassano III of Centerville, OH and grandson Christopher (Staci) Cassano and great-granddaughters, Carlee, Maggie, and Lucy of Wayne Township, OH. In addition, Fairy is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews who live all over the world, and many close friends.
She attended Church of the Cross, Faith Baptist Church, and First Baptist Church of Bellbrook. Fairy moved from Crossville, TN when she was 17 and met and married her lifelong husband Andy in 1943. They were married for 58 years wonderful years.
Fairy retired from General Motors after 30 years of service. In retirement, she and Andy enjoyed their home in Bellbrook, OH. Gardening was Fairy's special gift and her flowers were a beautiful show ever summer. She also loved the Christmas season and made it beautifully festive and special for family and friends. Fairy and Andy enjoyed traveling to National Parks and often visited San Diego.
She was very close to all her family her entire life, and they were always her highest priority. Fairy will be remembered most for her generosity, optimism, humor, kind heart, and gentle spirit. Her family will miss her more than words can express.
The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to St. Leonard's staff and Hospice of Dayton for their assistance and the loving care our mother received.
Family will greet friends from 10:00am-11:00am on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd. Kettering, OH with the service to follow at the funeral home.
