Ferne Berner

age 92, of Oakwood, Ohio passed away, Saturday, November 24, 2001. She received her B.S. degree from University of Dayton and her M.A. degree from Miami University of Ohio. Ferne did her training as a registered nurse at Cook County Hospital in Illinois. She was a registered nurse for St. Elizabeth Hospital and taught elementary school in the Kettering School System. Ferne was a member of First Lutheran Church of Dayton, Alpha Delta Kappa sorority, Retired Kettering Classroom Teachers Association and was a volunteer at Miami Valley Hospital. Preceded in death by her husband, Hugo; son, Joseph Berner; and 9 brothers and sisters. Survived by her son, Barry M. and his wife, Paula A. Berner of Houston, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, in Routsong Funeral Home, 6 Oakwood Ave., Oakwood, Ohio with Pastor Rick Powell officiating. Visitation will take place in the funeral home from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, Wednesday. Burial in Woodland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Dialysis Center, Miami Valley Hospital, One Wyoming St., Dayton, OH 45409.
