Florence Lucille Clemm Schaefer

CLEMM SCHAEFER, Florence L. "Deanie", 79, of Kettering died Monday, September 29, 2008. A 1950 graduate of Denison University, she was an active long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Dayton. Throughout her life, she volunteered for a wide range of organizations, including: Girl Scouts, Experiment in International Living, Ohio American Baptist Assoc., Interfaith Hospitality Network, and the Refugee Resettlement Coalition. In 1986, Florence was a recipient of Dayton's Top Ten Women Award. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald S. Clemm and second husband, Carl W. D. Schaefer; parents, Rev. Fred E. and Laura Agnes (St. Clair) Dean; sister and brother-in-law: Agnes and Bernard Lazar; brothers: Byron and Fred Dean; and sisters-in-law: Dagmar Dean and Josephine Dean. She is survived by her children: Dean Clemm, Maryl (Joseph) Shumski, and Nancy Clemm and partner Diane Harrelson; grandson, Anthony Shumski; step-sons: Jay (Ruth) Schaefer, Craig Schaefer, and Gary (Raelynn) Schaefer; siblings: E. Paul Dean, Allan (Ruth) Dean, Bruce (Nancy) Dean, G. Robert (Nancy) Dean, and Winifred (Dean) Vaughn; sisters-in-law, Loretta and Lorraine Dean; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren & great-grandchildren, friends and exchange students. Memorial Services will be held at 2:30PM on Saturday, October 4, at the First Baptist Church of Dayton, 111 W. Monument Ave., Dayton. Private burial will be held at Potsdam Cemetery.
