CLEMM SCHAEFER, Florence L. "Deanie", 79, of Kettering died Monday, September 29, 2008. A 1950 graduate of Denison University, she was an active long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Dayton. Throughout her life, she volunteered for a wide range of organizations, including: Girl Scouts, Experiment in International Living, Ohio American Baptist Assoc., Interfaith Hospitality Network, and the Refugee Resettlement Coalition. In 1986, Florence was a recipient of Dayton's Top Ten Women Award. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald S. Clemm and second husband, Carl W. D. Schaefer; parents, Rev. Fred E. and Laura Agnes (St. Clair) Dean; sister and brother-in-law: Agnes and Bernard Lazar; brothers: Byron and Fred Dean; and sisters-in-law: Dagmar Dean and Josephine Dean. She is survived by her children: Dean Clemm, Maryl (Joseph) Shumski, and Nancy Clemm and partner Diane Harrelson; grandson, Anthony Shumski; step-sons: Jay (Ruth) Schaefer, Craig Schaefer, and Gary (Raelynn) Schaefer; siblings: E. Paul Dean, Allan (Ruth) Dean, Bruce (Nancy) Dean, G. Robert (Nancy) Dean, and Winifred (Dean) Vaughn; sisters-in-law, Loretta and Lorraine Dean; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren & great-grandchildren, friends and exchange students. Memorial Services will be held at 2:30PM on Saturday, October 4, at the First Baptist Church of Dayton, 111 W. Monument Ave., Dayton. Private burial will be held at Potsdam Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Florence's memory may be made to the Buckeye Trails Girl Scout Council, 450 Shoup Mill Rd., Dayton, OH 45415 or to the Alzheimer's Association, Miami Valley Chapter, 3797 Summit Glen Rd., Ste G100, Dayton, OH 45449.
