CURRAN, Francis E. “Fritz” age 86, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2007. Francis was a resident at St. Leonard’s Senior Center Centerville, OH since November 1993 and was formerly of Westerville, OH. He retired from the US Air Force as a Lt. Colonel in October 1966 and from General Tire Sales in Columbus in October 1985. Fritz was stationed at Hickam Army Air Force Base, T. H. (next door to “Pearl Harbor”) on December 7, 1941. He returned to the West Coast in February 1942 for pilot training, graduating in September 1942 as Staff Sergeant Pilot. He spent most of his career as a Transport Pilot with additional duties in operations, supply, logistics and procurement. Retiring from the Defense Construction Supply Center, Columbus, OH where he was chief, Non-FSN Procurement for three years. A lifetime member of the Army Air Corps Enlisted Pilots Association and an active member of the St. Leonard’s Knights of Columbus Chapter 10215. Fritz was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a sister. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Grace D. (Domann) Curran; sons and daughters-in-law; Francis E. (Suzanne) Curran II of Hammondsport, NY, Michael L. (Barbara A.) Curran of Lyndhurst, OH and Patrick J. (Lynne) Curran of Chardon, OH; daughters and sons-in-law: Jeanne (James R.) Schmidt of Richmond, MO, Margaret L. (Jimmie) Martin of Vista, CA, Elizabeth (Dr. Warren L.) Metherd of Sharonville, OH and Mary T. (Rev. Steven E.) Davis of Bowling Green, OH; 19 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters-in-law; Betty Curran White of Overland, KS and Helen Curran of Richmond, MO. and many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 AM Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at St. Leonard’s Chapel, 8100 Clyo Road, Centerville, OH with Fr. Marne officiating. Interment at Calvary Cemetery, Dayton, OH. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 PM on Monday October 15, 2007 with Rosary at 6 PM at the Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville, OH and 1 hour prior to service time at the Chapel. If desired, contributions may be made to the St. Leonard’s Benevolent Fund, 8100 Clyo Rd. Centerville, OH. 45458.
