Frank W. George

GEORGE, Frank W. D.O. age 84, of Kettering passed away Friday, November 24, 2006 at the Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus, OH. For more than 47 years, Dr. George has dedicated his life to private family practice at Grandview & Southview Hospitals. He has stressed and promoted the true meaning and philosophy of being an osteopathic physician. A native of Youngstown, OH he served in the United States Army Medical Corps. In Italy, he met his wife, Bertha Sandra who was serving in the American Red Cross. They were married in Foggia, Italy in 1946. Upon his return, he re-enrolled at Ohio University, graduating in 1947. He then graduated from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1953, interned at Grandview Hospital and in 1954 he opened his family practice office. In recognition of his outstanding commitment to the Family Practice Residency Program, the inaugural Frank W. George, D.O. Family Practice resident Award was established in 1999. Through his remarkable dedication, Dr. George, has made a lasting impression on the osteopathic profession. He was the recipient for the Distinguished Service Award and the Ohio General Practitioner of the year award, and numerous awards and achievements, throughout his medical career. Dr. George was preceded in death by his parents, William and Bessie George, granddaughter Jamie George and great-granddaughter Kay Lee O’Connor. Dr. George is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Bertha Sandra George; 4 sons, William, James, Dr. Frank II and John; 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. 1 sister, Zaffra ( Rev.George) Bartz of Akron, OH; 1 brother, Rev. Christopher (Ann) Hadgigeorge of Toledo, OH and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 2, 2006 at 10:00 AM at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 500 N. Belmonte Park, Dayton, with Father Mark Emroll officiating. Entombment in Calvary Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 4-8:00 PM Friday at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering. In memory of Dr. George, contributions may be made to the Grandview Foundation-General Practice residency, 405 W. Grand Ave., Dayton, OH 45405. Condolences may be sent to the family
