ROSS, Franklin A. age 77, of Kettering passed away Thursday, January 9, 2003 at Kettering Medical Center. Franklin was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church in Kettering. He was an inventor, inventing a lens for the military which could be used at great depths under the sea. Franklin served as a pilot in the US Navy during WWII where he received a silver star for heroism during the Battle of Midway. Survived by his loving wife of over 55 years, Caryl Ross; 6 children, Michael S. Ross, Deborah A. Roth, Alicia F. Hasty, Cynthia J. Overholser, Michele D. Ross and Franklin A. Ross Jr.; 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and brother, David Mason Ross. Mass of Christian Burial will be held, Monday, January 13, at 11:30 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Church. Burial in Poplar Hill Cemetery, Vandalia. Family will greet friends from 9-11:00 AM, Monday, at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd. Kettering. Franklin was a loving husband and a wonderful father and grandfather. He loved gardening and going to the Notre Dame football games with his wife, son and grandson. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family. In memory of Franklin, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 40 S.
