STAMBAUGH, Franklin D. "Del", age 77, of Kettering, passed away on January 4, 2016. Del was born on November 11, 1938 in Floyd County, KY to the late Woodrow and Elva Stumbo.
He graduated from Olentangy High School in Lewis Center, OH, earned his Bachelor's degree from Ohio Wesleyan University, where he was a star football player, and his Master's degree from Xavier University. He was a retired school teacher and athletic coach. Del enjoyed his retirement and loved spending time with friends and watching football, but his primary passion was his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and Johnny, and his aunt, Palestine Vanderpool. Del is survived by his children, Carrie (Eddy) Blanco, Ross (Lori Williams) Stambaugh, and James Bion Stambaugh; grandchildren, Ellen, Elias, and Evan Blanco; brothers, Hugh and Ivan; and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, January 10, 2016 in the Smith building at St. Helen's Catholic Church, 5086 Burkhardt Rd. Dayton, OH. Family will greet friends before the service in the Smith building at 1:00pm.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff and doctors in the Neuroscience Unit at Miami Valley Hospital for all their care.
