Franz Schuster

SCHUSTER, Franz, age 87, of Kettering, passed away on Thursday January 8, 2015 in Lexington, KY. Born to Josef and Anna Schuster on March 27, 1927 in Mitrowitcza, Yugoslavia. He was a kind-hearted man, and a joy to all who knew him. Franz immigrated to the United States with his wife, Theresia and six year old son, Guenter from Austria in 1955 with $50 in his pocket. He landed his first job with Kuhns Tool & Die three days after arriving in the US not knowing any English. He went on to learn the trade and become a very well respected tool, die and mold maker. He worked in a number of Dayton area tool shops, and retired from Broadway Mold and Tool after 30 years with them. He loved his work and was dedicated to his family all of his life. Franz will be dearly missed by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of St. Albert the Great Catholic Church and the Dayton Liederkranz-Turner German Club, where he was a member for over 50 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Theresia of 65 years, and is survived by his son Guenter Anton (Claire) Schuster; daughters, Helga Maria (Tom) Miller and Barbara Eva (Tony) Jones; grandchildren, Jessica, Daniel, Karl, Colleen, Grace, Spencer, Addison, and Daralyne; great grandchildren, Ava and Mabel Alice; a very dear nephew Tony (Lydia) Schuster from Canada and a number of nieces and nephews in Germany and Austria. For those who knew Franz, in his favorite phrases "Or you got it or you ain't!"; "Take it easy!" Family will greet friends for a visitation from 9:30-11:00am on Monday January 12, 2015 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd. Kettering. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. In memory of Franz, donations may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 2312 Alexandria Dr., Lexington, KY 40504.
