RIEGER, Frederic L., age 84, of Spring Valley passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2004 at his residence. Fred was a 1937 graduate of Oakwood High School, and attended the University of Dayton and Miami-Jacobs College. He was the Vice President of Engineering at Monarch Marking System Company, responsible for several patents in labeling and marking technology and was president of Level X, maker of car compasses. Fred was a producer of sportsman films for TV in the 1950’s and 60’s. He was a precision metal worker and wood worker, along with interests in photography, hunting, fishing, electronics design and pipe organ restoration. Fred had an avid interest in antique car restoration, loved to travel and was involved with nature conservation. He was a member of the Engineers Club of Dayton, the Optimists Club and the Airflow Club of America. Frederic was preceded in death by his wife, Katharine G. (Geiler) Rieger in July 10, 1997 and his parents, Lowell and Wanda (Herzing) Rieger. He is survived by his daughter, Anne Corwynn of Spring Valley Township; son, Rick (Susan) Rieger of Columbus, OH; 2 grandchildren, Matthew (Jennifer) Rieger of Spring Valley Township and Elizabeth Rieger of Chicago, IL, special friends, primary health care giver, Rhonda Konicki and staff and the longtime friendship and service of Tom Bailey of Spring Valley Township. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 3, 2004 at 10:00 AM at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering with Rev. Harvey Smith officiating. Burial in David’s Cemetery.
