TYMESON, Rev. Dr. Gale E., 77, of Miamisburg, Ohio died Thursday, November 24, 2005 at Hospice of Dayton after a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease. He was born July 28, 1928 to Wellington B. and Ina E. Tymeson in Maine, NY. In addition to his loving wife of 48 years, Mary Tymeson, he is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Dr. Martha Tymeson and Roger Stonerock of Binghamton, NY and Carol and Michael Warmuth of Brewer, Maine; six grandchildren: Carolyn, Robin and Sam, Spencer, Gregory and Claire; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Dr. Glenn Tymeson and granddaughter Gretchen Warmuth. Gale graduated from Union-Endicott High School, excelling both in academics and on the football field. In 1950, he completed his B.A. at the University of Rochester, where he lettered in football for four years, was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and was voted president of the student body. He received his Masters of Divinity from Union Theological Seminary in New York City and in June 1953 was ordained at Federated Church of Maine, NY. With tireless compassion, he served United Church of Christ churches in Andover, Ohio, Henrietta, NY, Salamanca, NY, and West Seneca, NY before returning to his beloved academic studies, earning his Ph.D. in New Testament Theology from the University of Pittsburgh in 1975. For the remainder of his career, he faithfully served the congregation at Calvary United Church of Christ in Turtle Creek, PA where he was named Pastor Emeritus, and served the wider community through his work at Monroeville Mall Ministry and his teaching in the Lay Ministry School of the UCC Penn West Conference. At the time of death, Gale was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Miamisburg, OH. Dr. Tymeson touched countless lives with his gentle compassion, his intelligence, his work for social justice, his keen yet kind sense of humor, his devotion to his family, his love of music and football, and, above all, his deep and abiding faith in God. A memorial service will be held at the Federated Church, Maine, New York on Saturday, December 10, 2005 at 10:00 AM. Arrangements made by Routsong Funeral Home.
