ELAM, Garry Wayne, 77, a proud Dayton resident, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2024.
Born on January 2, 1947, to Courtney Jr. and Mildred Elam. Garry led a fulfilling life dedicated to service and family. After graduating high school, he served his country in Vietnam, then continued his dedication as an Operations Manager for the City of Dayton. In his downtime, he loved nothing more than hunting and spending time at the lake.
Garry was a kind soul who was always willing to give a helping hand. Garry was also an active member of his community, involved in the Masons, Shriners, the Scottish Rite, and serving as the Commander of the American Legion Post 619. A family man at heart, his greatest joys were spending time with his loved ones.
Garry is preceded in death by his beloved partner, Gina Heil, but leaves behind his son, Garry II (Heather), grandchildren Jessica (Justin), Garry III, and Hannah, as well as his great-grandchildren Mya and Ellie, and his brother, Larry (Pat).
Funeral arrangements are being made at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, where family and friends may gather on Monday, February 26, between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm to pay their last respects. The funeral service will commence at 1:00 pm at the funeral home, followed by his internment at Miami Valley Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Alzheimer's Association, 6 N. Main St., Ste. 130, Dayton, OH 45402, to honor Garry's memory and the lives he touched. Garry will forever be remembered for his dedication, service, and love for his family and community.
