Gary Lee Schommer

SCHOMMER, Gary L., age 71, of Dayton, passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at Hospice of Dayton. Gary was a 1951 graduate of Stivers High School and Bowling Green State University. He was an Eagle Scout, served as a Scout Master and served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He taught at the University of Omaha, University of Georgia, Athens and Kings College, PA and later retired from the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services. Gary was active in various local theatrical groups and magic club (Ring 5). He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward N. and Beulah B. Schommer, and his wife, Jo Schommer. Gary is survived by his 2 daughters, Amy Smyer and Laura Irwin; son, Scott Schommer; 6 grandchildren, Matthew, Beth, Steven, Alexander, Eric and Leslie and brother, Dr. Jerry Schommer. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 22nd at 10:00 AM at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering. Burial in Glen Haven Cemetery, New Carisle. Family will receive friends Monday one hour prior to the service from 9-10:00 AM at the funeral home.
