Geneva Cecilia Sprauer

SPRAUER, Geneva “Jenny” Cecilia, age 86, passed away on August 28, 2024. Jenny was born on December 11, 1937, in Dayton, to the late Arthur and Helen (Meyer) Brinkel. Jenny was a 1956 graduate of Julienne High School and worked at various jobs (Prudential Insurance, bank teller and University of Dayton Bursar’s office). 

Jenny had a generous spirit and this led to many opportunities to volunteer her time at Carrol High School supporting The Marching Patriots. At Ascension Parish in Kettering, Jenny was involved in various ministries which brought her great joy (funeral luncheons, eucharistic minister, parish festival), to name a few. She particularly loved visiting homebound/nursing home residents and sharing Hallmark cards to brighten their day. Jenny was known for her beautiful smile. Jenny traveled the world with her husband and family but always had a great fondness and appreciation for the beauty of the Smoky Mountains.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Frank “Bud” Sprauer; daughter, Cyndi Sprauer Moore; and grand daughter, Heather Welch. She was the last surviving Brinkel child of 7 and their spouses. 

Jenny is survived by her son, Stephen (Linda) Sprauer, and their children, Andrew, Samuel and Stephanie; daughter, Catherine (David) Daniel, and their children, Brandon (Michelle), Jarod (Maddie); Cyndi Sprauer Moore’s children, Benjamin Sprauer, Zachary Moore, Mikayla Moore; Cyndi’s partner Jeff Borttoff, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Jenny was loved by many including the residents and staff at Trinity of Beavercreek where she spent the last years of her life.

The family will greet friends from 5-7pm on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd. Kettering, OH 45429. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at St Luke Catholic Church 1440 N. Fairfield Rd. Beavercreek, OH 45432. A live stream of the service will be available via St. Luke’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/StLukeBeavercreek/). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jenny’s name to Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton, Trinity of Beavercreek Benevolent Fund, 3218 Indian Ripple Rd, Beavercreek, OH 45440, or St Luke's Catholic Church. 

The family would like to thank Jenny’s caregivers over the years at Trinity of Beavercreek who became like family to her, and Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton.
