Georganne Matthews

MATTHEWS, Georganne, age 77, of Oakwood, died on Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at Kettering Medical Center. She was a graduate of Oakwood High School and Ohio State University. Georganne did extensive graduate work at O.S.U., W.S. U. and Purdue University in the field of social casework and mental retardation. She worked as a social worker for 35 years at several agencies: Children’s Service Bureau, Court of Domestic Relations, and at both Franklin and Montgomery County Boards of Mental Retardation. She loved her work, her co-workers and the families and children she served. Georganne is preceded in death by her sister, Sarah Caton. She is survived by niece, Nancy (Bruce) Ruoff and their 4 children; nephew, Chuck (Kim) Caton and their son; nephew, Tom Caton; and cousin, Rufe was especially kind to her. Georganne is also grateful to her wonderful friends, Phyllis Donovan, and Jerry and Mary Lou Murray. She is also indebted to her dog, Molly, for her understanding and comfort. There will be no services. Burial in Woodland Cemetery.
