George Arthur Frankenfeld

FRANKENFELD, George Arthur, 84, of Kettering, OH passed into God's hands on Thursday evening, 2/2/2017. A business school graduate of The Ohio State University in 1954, he was an accomplished collegiate athlete with the distrinction of earning a Varsity letter in golf for 3 years, and he was the Junior PGA Champion in 1951. A 1950 graduate of Wilbur Wright High School, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame for basketball and golf on his birthday last year. He was Club Champion many times at Sycamore Creek Country Club and Walnut Grove Country Club. He chose not to pursue a professional golf career because of a back injury, and instead joined the family business. He retired from a successful career with Electro-Hygiene in 1994 as Vice President of Sales. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church for more than 50 years, where he faithfully volunteered for many years. Preceded in death by his father Arthur Raymond Frankenfeld, mother Edna Elenore Makela Frankenfeld, and former wife Barbara Weaver Hobbs, all of Centerville, OH; as well as his brother, John C. Klof of Rancho Mirage, CA. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 30 years, Joyce Shaffer, brother Lee (Beverly) Frankenfeld, and four daughters and six granchildren: Susan (Len) Davidson and their children Luke and Jacob, Sandra (Mike) Meistrell, Lynne Whitaker and her children Elle and Reiss, and Lisa Newman and her children Cameron and Ben, as well as many neices and nephews. He will be greatly missed, and will be remembered for his incredible sense of humor, warm personality, enjoyment of sports and especially golf, and his unwavering love of God and family. Family will receive friends on Sunday February 5th from 3-4 pm, funeral services are at 4pm; at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 901 E Stroop Rd, Kettering OH 45429. Burial in Centerville Cemetery on Monday, February 6th at 10 am. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to: Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or Bethany Lutheran Village.
